HEALTH: A Rolling Kidney Stone Gathers No Moss

The Flintstones were big. The Rolling Stones were really big. My kidney stones are...HUGE!

For about two months now (which also explains my lack of blog posts) I’ve been dealing with a very large kidney stone. I actually have a stone in each kidney but the right side has been the real troublemaker.

I had a surgical procedure (a lithotripsy) a couple weeks ago and it didn’t work. I have to have a second procedure next week. If that doesn’t work...I don’t even want to think about the next procedure, which is more invasive and has a longer recovery time.

I’ve been blessed (or cursed) with a very high pain tolerance. That has made it easier for me to get through these weeks of battling with the kidney stones. I’ve reached my patience level though. I’m ready to be done with this and be able to move on and feel good.

I think the two worst parts about dealing with the stone were not being able to play with my son, Mikey, as much and, yep I know it’s silly, having to drink this nasty liquid before my surgery. I was told the liquid came in two flavors (cherry and lemon) and that they both tasted like crap. They weren’t lying!!!

My stone is stuck in my kidney. I’m feeling stuck, too.
